Key West

April 12, 2009
On Thursday we left our humble abode in Coral Springs and headed to Jimmy Buffet country. Come on guys, like Key West. I love Key West in its quirky, laid back ways. The roosters run loose in the streets, dogs can enter the restaurant, you can open a restaurant in a card board box, and clothing is optional. Now why would you not like a place like this? My cousin Chris and his wife Pat joined us Friday night as we have a two bedroom unit (time share) right on the gulf. Weather was great, food was great, and as always the music outstanding. Walking down Duval street is always a treat. People having fun and letting it all hang out. Yes, they let "it all hang out". But for an old guy like me, heck, I'm there to take pictures of things. Things? Yea, things, any thing. Why not? Things are good! Anyway, Key West is the place to have sea food. For lunch it was off to the Wharf for the great seafood. We settled for the Schooner Wharf Bar which is right on the wharf with great views. The fresh fish sandwiches were ordered and delivered to our table. Then they brought me my hot dog and fries. For dinner we wanted a romantic dinner on the wharf. We decided to eat at the Conch Republic. This is a great sea food restaurant which also had great music. Grouper was the catch of the day and it was brought to our table. The waiter seemed a wee bit distressed when he put the pork chops in front of me. Now don't get me wrong, I love the sea, I just don't eat what comes out of it. Today, Sunday we left the islands in the sea and headed back home. Here I sit writing my blog. Will anyone read it? I sure hope so.
